The origin
"I was watching a foreman fill out the same paper form for the twelfth time that month. In the rain. On a roof."
Steven Cote — Co-founder, FORMWORX
Former roofing contractor, BC safety advocate
The problem
BC construction has some of the strictest safety requirements in North America. The tools to meet those requirements? Paper binders and emailed PDFs from 2009.
Built by trades people, for trades people.
FORMWORX started from a simple frustration: every safety software platform was built by software people who had never been on a roof. They had clipboards, not calluses.
The safety module was designed around the actual daily rhythm of a roofing crew — the 6am site start, the glove-on phone check, the foreman who needs to capture a near-miss without stopping work for 20 minutes.
We partnered directly with Golden Rule Roofing as our POC client — a BC roofing contractor targeting their first COR certification. Every feature in FORMWORX Safety was validated against their real workflows before a single line of production code was written.
The result is a platform that doesn't feel like compliance software. It feels like a tool your crew will actually use.
Safety module
Everything WorkSafeBC requires. Nothing extra.
Twelve core features, all interconnected, all grounded in BC law and your company's own OHS manual.
Daily hazard assessment
GPS-stamped site check-in. Red-box logic forces mitigation notes on every failed safety check before the form closes.

AI features
AI that stays in its lane.
FORMWORX Safety uses two distinct AI tools, both with hard guardrails. Neither will answer with US OSHA rules, generic safety advice, or anything outside your specific jurisdiction and company OHS manual.
This is not a chatbot. It's a grounded compliance assistant.

ToolBOT — toolbox talk generator
Foremen describe a topic. ToolBOT generates a full, regulation-cited safety briefing in under 30 seconds. The crew signs digitally when done.
Safety AI assistant
Any worker can ask safety questions in plain language. The AI cites the exact WorkSafeBC regulation or section of your OHS manual in every answer.

TOOLBOX TALK — Steep slope roofing WorkSafeBC OHS Reg. Part 11 · Generated for Golden Rule Roofing
Today's focus is fall protection on roofs with a pitch greater than 4:12. Under BC Reg. 11.4, every worker must be protected by a personal fall arrest system anchored to a rated anchor point... [full briefing — 847 words]
MK
What's the minimum anchor load rating for a single-worker system in BC?
FW
Under WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation Section 11.4(3), anchor points for a personal fall arrest system must have a minimum design strength of 22 kN (approximately 5,000 lbs) for each worker attached. This requirement is also reflected in Section 4.3 of your company's OHS manual under "Fall Protection Equipment Standards."
Grounded mode active: All answers are limited exclusively to WorkSafeBC regulations and Golden Rule Roofing's OHS manual. No external sources are used.

Pricing
Tiered pricing. No surprises.
FORMWORX Safety is priced for real trades businesses. Add modules as you grow — you only pay for what you use.
FORMWORX ecosystem add-ons: Safety is module 1. Additional modules (HR, Estimating, Project Management, Invoicing, Client Portal) are each priced independently and snap into the same platform — sharing your brand DNA, your team data, and your client records.
How it works
From onboarding to audit-ready in days.
1
Brand DNA extraction
We scan your website. Your logo, colours, and tone are applied to every document FORMWORX produces — automatically.
2
Jurisdiction load
Based on your service area, your local safety authority's full regulation set is loaded as the AI's knowledge base.
3
OHS manual sync
Upload your existing manual, or build one with our AI tool. This becomes the second source of truth alongside your jurisdiction rules.
4
Deploy to the field
Add your crew via the whitelist system. Foremen start checking in, filing hazards, and running ToolBOT talks the same day.
Build log
Living build documentation.
This is a running record of the FORMWORX Safety build — decisions made, features shipped, and problems solved. Updated with every meaningful build session.

Architecture decision: Safety as a FORMWORX module, not standalone app
Scoped Safety as module 1 of the broader FORMWORX ecosystem. All data entities, RLS policies, and auth flows designed to support future modules sharing the same platform layer. Onboarding brand DNA extraction confirmed as a platform-level feature, not module-specific.

Photo handling migrated to real database storage
Moved from simulated photo uploads to permanent database-attached storage. Photos are now permanently linked to specific report IDs and cannot be altered post-submission. Critical for audit integrity.

Modal focus and scrolling bugs resolved
Fixed long-standing UX issues where background content scrolled behind open modals. App now behaves as a professional enterprise tool — critical for field use when workers need to read reports top-to-bottom without distractions.

ToolBOT grounding confirmed: WorkSafeBC only, 50% more elaborate than standard models

Innovation
Potential patentable IP.
Several core mechanisms in FORMWORX Safety represent genuinely novel approaches to compliance technology. These are flagged for IP review.
Jurisdiction-grounded AI compliance assistant
A method for constraining an AI language model to answer exclusively from a specific regulatory body's published rules combined with a client-uploaded OHS manual — with hard-blocked external sources and mandatory regulation citation in every response. Configurable by jurisdiction at onboarding.
Hazard audit loop with forced resolution
A workflow system where a field-reported safety hazard creates a mandatory open record that cannot be closed until an administrator reviews the source form, enters resolution notes, and explicitly closes it — generating a timestamped paper trail at each step for third-party audit purposes.
Brand DNA auto-extraction for compliance document generation
A system that scrapes a client's public website at onboarding to extract brand assets (logo, colours, typography, tone) and automatically applies them to all subsequently generated compliance documents, PDFs, and in-app theming without manual design input.
Red-box conditional mitigation gate
A form logic system where marking a safety condition as "failed" triggers a mandatory free-text mitigation field that blocks form submission until completed — creating a structured chain-of-evidence record linking hazard identification directly to the stated remediation action.
POC clients: submit feedback + bug reports
Golden Rule Roofing and Alpha Roofing — your reports directly drive the build. Use the form or email the team.
